ALT for Damerne, July 1952

I have scanned from my charming ALT for Damerne (ALL for the Ladies) from July1952:

Remember to click the photos to get a larger size. I have made the photos quite large, so you should be able to see the details.

New times - New tones. A teacher is shocked over the modern monkey music (jazz) that is introduced in the kindergartens:

In the holiday paradise. Summer fashion from 1952. If I had thighs like this I would wear the shorts:

More summer fashion. The dresses are very nice and there is a pattern for making a sun hat, perhaps I one day make one for myself, it looks quite easy.

Every week there is a a page called "In the binoculars", where the readers send their good ideas to share with other readers. I think a little girl would still be happy to have her own "beauty-corner" like this today:

There is a pattern for a knitted dress for the early autumn:

Here is the pattern (in Danish):

Ideas to arrange a small room for two boys, very smart:

You can make the accessory set from the cover yourself:
The text says you can buy a "glove-template" at your leather specialist, but I think you can buy a glove pattern at a fabric shop.

Let's continue to the adds, which I love. The adds back then were so charming. Nivea is an evergreen:

Elida shampoo in a  tube, can wash the sand out of your hair:

White shoes in the summer is a must, use Peewit:

PILEX - the new hair remover, so we can show skin at the beach:

ODO-RO-NO - no odour in the summer heat:

Sommer Creme - with SPF, a brand new american invention:

Breining hand cream, with a lovely scent:

Macs with peroxide (!), makes yellow teeth white:

Chanel add from the last back, super elegant:

Vintage Magazine Covers

At the vintage car meeting at Graested I bought five very charming ALT for Damerne (ALL for the Ladies), all from the fifties. I have enjoyed them very much and want to share them with you, although they are in Danish. I have scanned all the covers as a start, since I think they were almost art back then. Often they were drawn and completely missing neon-coloured adds:

February 1953:

April 1958:

July 1952:

November 1952:

November 1957:

I will scan cosy and interesting things from the magazines suitable for the season, so look forward to next week where I will scan from the July magazine. Although they are in Danish I think you will enjoy the pictures.

Vintage Car Meeting at Graested, 2012

We went with my parents to the City of Graested, and it was super cosy. This time I have taken more lyrical photos than car photos, since it is more or less the same vehicles every year. Son and his girlfriend joined us of their own free will. She had never tried this before, but he convinced her, since he is so crazy about it. Here is DH, mum, son and a bit of his girlfriend's dress:

Dad needs a cup of coffee:
And mum is not too old to act as a pinup:
The huge coffeepot was outside the coffee tent, we made our own coffee in dad's lovely camper.

Dad is chatting with the smith:
There was a sparepart market, but there is hardly ever parts for my car. A few special bulbs were put in stock:
Mum served a fabulous lunch:
There was everything a hungry heart could wish for on the table.

You could reserve time on the nap-list:
Son and his girlfriend are overturned.

"Traeftanic" served beer, but the iceberg in the front was almost melted:
In the military camp you could play cola-checkers:

And here is Tiny Honk in the line:

I think the area was a bit more messy this year compared to last year. It was not divided into e.g. US and European cars. And there was no "war", the military vehicles just drove around. But there were some news: a drive in cinema and tractor-pulling with old tractors and steam-machines. And the flea market was much bigger this year. I bought a lot of vinyl records: three LPs with vintage jukebox hits, two Bob Marley LPs for son, and three double LPs with mixed hits from the fifties, which I saw and didn't buy at first and of course regretted later. Early in the evening I went alone and thought that I would never find the sales pitch again and if I did, the records were for sure sold. I found the sales pitch and the records were still there, so I simply HAD to buy them. Because what are the odds!?

And I bought five fantastic vintage magazines, which I will scan for you later. Unfortunately, they are in Danish, but I think you will enjoy the pictures.

Nun Nails

I rarely make a french manicure. I love it on others, but on my own nails I think it is dull. If I make it once in a while, I always make it with contrasting colours, like this: Well, a few weeks ago I felt like making a classic french manicure. I had invested in Essie’s ”Cherry Pop”, a clear red polish, which I thought would work great for this mani. It didn’t! Because it was just clear, no colour at all, ough! So I had to find another pink polish in my polish drawer, an almost vintage pale pink polish from Nivea. It is perfect for the look, since it almost covers the nails in one stroke:
Since it is such a dull look I simply had to add a rhinestone to the ringfinger nail, so I didn’t look like a nun! ;)
